Margao: Save Goa Front to Merge with Congress

Margao, Jan 22: Save Goa Front supremo and PWD minister Churchill Alemao, who once even time lambasted Congress and their functionaries has now agreed to merge his newly-formed party with Congress, to safeguard his ministerial berth. However, owing to this sudden decision he is facing the problems from his supporters. 

His supporters were irked over this decision, but finally Churchill who is known as mass leader made it clear to them (Supporters) that there was no alternative rather than merging the Save Goa Front with Congress, as he wanted to safeguard his ministerial berth in order to work for betterment of people.

Around 150 supporters of Churchill had convened a meeting at Varca on Tuesday January 22, when they heard that their party will be merged with Congress, Churchill, MLA Aleixio Reginald, party spokesman advocate Maik Mehta and others were present on the occasion.

Addressing meeting Churchill said "My dear friends, if I had not taken this decision MGP would have had taken the opportunity, I want to serve people, and it is not possible by staying out. In this situation it was important for me to take this decision."

He also said that Chief Minister Digamber Kamat has assured him to see to his demands of getting equal status to Roman script and the resolving the long-pending demands of taxi operators.
