Mumbai: Laxman C Poojary elected for NCP parliament board

Mumbai, Dec 12: National Congress Party has appointed Laxman C Poojary to the parliament board of the party as vice president.

The party has selected leaders for BMC elections that will be held in February 2017. The position is prominent among the 227 representatives in six districts in Mumbai.

Laxman Poojary, who is close to former union minister and former Maharashtra chief minister Sharad Pawar is the first Kannadiga to have decorated the position. Laxman Poojary is the son of Mangaluru Mulki Chitrapura resident Chennappa Poojary and Janaki Poojary. Being an experienced politician he has indulged in quiet social service. He was in the party for some time and represented the party in 1997 BMC elections. He has served as Mada member, western railway board member, former president of Chitrapu Billava Sangha, Mulki Billava Sangha Mumbai committee vice president, naming of Santacruz east Gurunarayana road and in the construction of Billava Bhavan.
