Nagpur, Dec 10 (TOI): The opposition has alleged that the Maharashtra government has incurred a loss of Rs 209 crore by giving land at a concessional rate for Patanjali food processing unit in Nagpur. The company promoted by Baba Ramdev has been given 230 acres of land in Mihan in September this year.
The issue was raised by a calling attention motion that was filed by Sharad Ranpise (Congress), who said that land in the Mihan SEZ project was being allotted at the rate of Rs 1.16 crore per acre and by this rate the land that Patanjali got should have cost Rs 267crore, while the government only charged Rs 58.65 crore from Patanjali for the land, which means that the land was allotted at the rate of Rs 25.5 lakh per acre. There is a total loss of Rs 209 crore to the government in this deal, said Ranpise.
Minister of state Madan Yerawar said that since the land that was given to Patanjali is outside the Mihan SEZ and is underdeveloped so its cost is less.
