RBI to soon issue Rs 50, Rs 20 notes; old notes to remain valid


Mumbai, Dec 4 (Zee News): The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 20 and Rs 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, bearing signature of Urjit R Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2016' printed on the reverse of the banknote, RBI said in a statement on Sunday.

Making a statement on the new Rs 20 notes, RBI said, "The design and security features of these banknotes will be similar to the banknotes of ₹ 20 denomination with the ascending font of numerals in both the number panels and without intaglio print issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005.

"All the banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 20 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender", added RBI.

The Reserve Bank of India will also shortly issue Rs 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, without inset letter in both the number panels, bearing signature of Urjit R Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2016' printed on the reverse of the banknote.

"The design and security features of these banknotes will be similar to the banknotes of ₹ 50 denomination with the ascending font of numerals in both the number panels and without intaglio print issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005" said RBI in the press statement.

All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 50 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.

    Actually RBI confused how to overcome the present situation which creates by the Government. So as per our opinion Rs. 100 is more than enough to evade other currency which is not familiar now a days.

    Dear RBI, first print enough 500 and 2000 notes for the people... and print as much as 100 notes... which is a real requirement at this time. Due to the inflation and everything is higher in cost, the 50 and 20 notes will not much useful, but 100 rupee note will be good one.

    First issue enough money to public, most of bank says no cash and bank customers own money they given on condition base. many wedding functions has been postponed

    Only if only Government had stacked a lot of new Rs. 10, 20, 50, 100 & 500 notes before 8/11/2016 demonetization would not have flopped.
