Remo chargesheeted in verbal abuse case involving minor


Panaji, Dec 3 (IANS): Pop star Remo Fernandes has been chargesheeted in connection with a case of verbal abuse against a minor, police said on Saturday.

Remo was chargesheeted on Thursday. The case was filed under the Goa Chilren's Court last year, said Police Inspector Uday Parab.

"We completed our investigation and filed the chargesheet before the GCC," Parab told the media here.

Remo has been charged with verbally abusing a minor girl from Malvan in Maharashtra.

The girl was walking toward the Old Goa Church complex on an annual pilgrimage when a car allegedly driven by Remo's son knocked her down on December 15 last year.

Later, after the victim was admitted to the Goa Medical College near Panaji, Remo met the girl and after an altercation verbally abused her.

An FIR was filed against Remo under section 8 of Goa Children's Act, a special legislation which deals with crimes against children.
