Karkala: Vehicle tumbles down gorge - 12 pilgrims injured

Karkala, Dec 3: After a Force Motors Toofan vehicle went out of control of its driver at the district border near Mala on Friday December 2, 12 pilgrims travelling in the vehicle suffered injuries.

16 persons from Shirahatti taluk of Gadag district had undertaken the travel together in the same vehicle to certain centres of pilgrimage, when their vehicle met with an accident. The vehicle tumbled down the gorge all of a sudden, resulting in injuries of various degrees and extensive damage to the vehicle.

The injured have been identified as Sharada (25), whose nature of injuries are serious, Mahantesh (26), Siddalingaiah (60), Uma (45), Vijay (24), Kasturi (38), Lalita (45), Sadhu (53), Rajan (50), Nagendra (16), Ramesh (41), and Manjula (23), who injuries are relatively minor.

The pilgrims had visited Sringeri, and were on their way to Dharmasthala when tragedy struck.
