Key Indian equity indices trade lower during early session


Mumbai, Dec 2 (IANS): Key Indian equity market indices opened in the red on Friday following weak global cues and rumours that all gold jewellery may be taxed.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) was trading at 138.02 points or 0.52 per cent lower during the early session.

The wider 51-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading at 51.45 points or 0.63 per cent lower at 8,141.45 points.

The BSE Sensex, which opened at 26,437.37 points, was trading at 26,421.90 points (at 9.16 a.m.) in the early session, lower 138.02 points or 0.52 per cent from Thursday's close at 26,559.92 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 26,437.37 points and a low of 26,359.95 points in the trade so far.
