Puttur, Nov 30: Uppinangady police, who had arrested three youngsters who were found in the company of a 58 days old child in a rented house at Perne Kadambu, have registered a case of abduction of child and illegal human trafficking against them. On Tuesday, they were produced in the court, upon which they were remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
The arrested men, identified as Muhammed Uzaif (27) from HBR Layout, Hennur, Bengaluru, Shiyabuddin Ahmed (27) resident of Anadka Perabe in Hirebandady, and Muhammed Shabbir (21) from Kolady in Adekkal, Hirebandady, had claimed that the child had been handed over by the father of the child to Uzaif for caring for it during the period of its mother's absence, who they said, was on a visit to her hometown in Nepal.
The police have also booked Jalaluddin from Bengaluru, who reportedly entrusted care of this child to the young men. He has been charged with illegal human trafficking and kidnap. Uzaif had told the police that father of the child, Jalaluddin, had boarded a bus at Bengaluru to reach Uppinangady in an effort to convince the police that there was no foul play in taking care of the child. Policemen were banking on this story. However, Jalaluddin, who was expected to reach Uppinangady on Tuesday, never arrived there.
In-charge of rural police station here, Mahesh Prasad, along with Uppinangady police sub-inspector, Ratan, visited the house of Perne Kadambu that was rented by the young men a day earlier. They took into possession cradle and some other items the accused had kept there. The child is under the care of Child Welfare Committee now.
