Kuwait, Nov 29: November 4 went down into the history of Kuwait Kannada Koota (KKK) for celebrating yet another Kannada festival in the form of Karnataka Rajyotsava.
This was a joyous festival for all the Kannadigas. The Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with great pomp and show at the
auditorium of Kuwait College of Science and Technology, Doha Road, here.
At the auspicious moment, Rajyotsava programme began by singing Kuwait and Indian National Anthems which were followed by Karnataka state song. Koota’s president C A Prashantha Shetty, chief guest Kalasree Y K Muddukrishna, guest of honor Kalasree Nagara Srinivas Udupa, event sponsor Good Earth’s managing director Stanley George with the other members of the executive committee, vice president Rajesh Vittal PMP, treasurer Dr Shashikiran G Prabhu, secretary Prabhu Achar with family members of executive committee declared open the Rajyotsava programme by lighting the sacred lamp. Cultural committee convener Gayatri Ramesh along with co-convener Spoorthy Shenoy Kamath welcomed the guests and the members. The tiny tots of KKK started with offering obeisance to Lord Ganesha, remover of obstacles in the form of a dance.
A cultural extravaganza was displayed by the KKK children and the programme was aptly named 'Chinnara Loka' exclusively meant for children. They were like stars that descended on the earth making a child’s world and dance depicting the rich cultural heritage along with themes of values of life that enthralled the audience. The children’s talents were so nicely showcased by the Koota directors like a perfect mix of milk and honey, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
During the stage event, Koota’s president C A Prashantha Shetty in his speech enumerated the activities of the Koota and thanked all the sponsors who helped make the Rajyotsava programme possible. All the sponsors were given a memento as a token of remembrance. To remember the event, a souvenir was released by the chief guest. The 'Chigura Balli' team which imparts Kannada tutoring to the children announced new classes open to Koota as well as to other children interested in learning Kannada. Marala Mallige team released the e-version of Marala Mallige. The invited guests from Karnataka Kalasree Y K Muddukrishna and Kalasree Nagara Srinivas Udupa were honored with a shawl and were given mementos as token of remembrance. The chief guest Kalasree Y K Muddukrishna was enamored by the hospitality of the Koota and was all praise for the children of the Koota whose cultural display was comparable to any international standard. A raffle draw was conducted and various valuable prizes were given away.
After the stage event the finale was a value based theme dance cum skit 'Sainikarige Salam' which came in like lightening on the stage. All those brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the country were very well depicted and earned a standing ovation from the audience. The cultural committee convener Gayatri Ramesh and co-convener Spoorthy Shenoy Kamathhad very well directed the entire Rajyotsava programme. Dr Azad Ismail Saheb, Tharendra Shettigar, Dr Preeti Shetty and Vasuki helped in running the programme smoothly. General secretary Prabhu Achar proposed the vote of thanks.
The lighting for the programme was beautifully done by Zain Events. Photography and videography was captured by Thomas and group. The executive committee’s clear vision, cultural committee’s untiring efforts, public relations attractive welcome decorations, technical committee’s complete control of stage sound system, sports committee and Marala Mallige’s release of e-version souvenir and the complete support of all these groups brought out an excellent cultural extravaganza which was a cynosure for all eyes. Everyone was treated to a sumptuous dinner after the programme.
