Mumbai, Jan 13: 'Divo Literary Award – '07' was presented to Rons Bantwal, young reporter of metro and Dr Gerald Pinto, professor of Milagres College, Kallianpur, on Saturday, January 12.
Divo Literary Award, instituted by 'Divo' Konkani weekly published from the metro, in order to acknowledge the contribution to Konkani literature and rendering yeomen service in promoting Konkani.
Accordingly, the award was presented to Rons Bantwal, in recognition of his contribution to journalism and social service and Prof Gerald Pinto Niddody for his significant contribution to promote Konkani, during the conferring of awards ceremony held at Francis Fernandes Casia stage of Dr Antonio D'Silva High School auditorium, located at Dadar (East), in the presence of Lawrence D'Souza, state president of All India Catholic Union, Maharastra, Stany Saldanha, eminent businessman, Alwyn Lobo Siddakatte, executive of Infotech, Janet L D'Souza, president of Mumbai Pradesh Congress Mahila Congress Committee.
'Christmas the festival of peace, love and justice' book authored by Sartho Estaves of by Secular Citizen Publication, 'Havn Thuka Sodchinam' book authored by H J Goveas, 'My dreams my realities' authored by Kaviraj J B Sequeira and 'Jiveethanchim Mothiyam' authored by Rons Michael were released by Alwyn Lobo Siddakatte.
Suzanne Lawrence Coelho, co editor and publisher of 'Divo' Konkani weekly welcomed. Lawrence Coelho, editor and publisher of 'Divo' delivered the key note address. Lawrence D'Souza Kamani and John J Mendonca delivered the introduction of awardees. Lidwyn Aranha, Preeti D'Souza and Jaami Gonsalves, honoured the guests by presenting floral bouquet. Lidya Austin D'Souza compered the programme. S Lobo proposed vote of thanks.
'Jeju Maka Apaitha' Konkani mini-play authored and directed by Naveen Kulshekar was performed as part of entertainment programme. Later, Konkani musical concert was held by Antony Tauro and group.
