Puttur, Nov 22: The planning forum of the post graduate department of economics of St Philomena College here, organized a panel discussion on ‘Currency Demonetization’ on November 21 at the PG Seminar Hall.
The chairperson of the centre for PG studies and research Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the chief guest. He said, "As rational human beings, we must always try to rise above the level and judge above the level. In our approaches, we must be objective rather than subjective."
The columnist and agriculturist Vishweshwara Bhat Bangaradka, progressive agriculturist A P Subrahmanyam and the manager of HDFC Bank Puttur Prasad Prabhu were the panel members.
The professor of economics Dr Manjula B C moderated the discussion. She said, "The unseen impact of government’s decision to wipe out 86 percent of the total value of currency in circulation to fight corruption and counterfeiting goes deeper and could see short-term pain for India’s trajectory but eventual long-term gains."
The analysts Ravindran, Mahalingeshwara Bhat and assistant professor Sandhya H participated in the discussion. Lavita Lobo and team presented the prayer song.
