Mangaluru, Nov 18: The new batch of first year students of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing (LMCN) were welcomed by lighting of candles at the auditorium of A J Institute of Medical Sciences on Thursday November 17.
Dr B A Yathi Kumara Swamy Gowda, principal, Alva’s College of Nursing, Moodbidri, who inaugurated the event said, “Nursing is a life-long commitment. Nurses are the largest group of healthcare professionals in the world. To be a successful nursing professional, you should learn by watching others, inspire a shared vision, and question the process to be clear, give a team effort and encourage each other to deliver your best.”
Earlier, Dr Theresa Leonilda Mendonsa, vice-principal, LMCN, welcomed the gathering. The chief guest and the principal lit the lamp and paid homage to Florence Nightingale. The students too lit candles and took the oath.
Principal of the college, Dr Larissa Martha Sams, Dr Ashritha P Shetty, Director, LMET, Col. Dr Jayaram, Medical Superintendant, AJIMS; DR PP DEvan, Vice-Dean, AJIMS; faculty, students and others were present.
