Mangaluru, Nov 18: "Demanding a stop to the ongoing Yethinahole project, Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti will hold a pada yatre on December 10, 11 and 12," informed Vijay Kumar Shetty president of the samiti at a press meet he addressed on November 17.
He said, "The pada yatre will start from Subramanya enroute to Dharmasthala, Uppinangadi, Bantwal, Mangaluru, Mulky and end at Kateel. Many political leaders and organisations have extended their support. We also welcome all the people who will extend their support."
Professor S G Mayya of NITK Suratkal said, "The petition filed by Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti against the Yethinahole project at National green tribunal, Chennai has been taken up for inquiry on November 11 by the president of the tribunal, judge Swatanter Kumar. On our behalf, one of the top lawyers M C Mehta has taken up the case. He has clearly brought to the notice of the tribunal the impact of the project on the Western Ghats, forests in addition to the impact on drinking water
for coastal region."
"After taking into consideration all the points the judge has directed to briefly present the argument on December 2."
