Mumbai, Jan 11: Mary Pinto, veteran teacher hailing from Karkala, in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada, was felicitated for her five decades' of service in the metro, during the recently held convention of Maharastra Kannadigas.
Dr Vyasaraya Ninjoor, eminent scientist and researcher, presided over the convention while Ka Tha Chikkanna Jyoti, director of Kannada and Culture department, inaugurated the convention by lighting the lamp.
Prof S G Siddaramayya of Kannada Books Authority, Bangalore, Dr G N Upadhyaya, head of department of Kannada department, Mumbai University, Harikrishna Punaroor, ex-president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, B D Shetty, veteran entrepreneur, Ambathanaya Mudrady, Jaya C Suvarna, president of Billava Sangh, M B Kukyan, honorary editor of 'Akshaya' monthly, were the guests present at the occasion.
K Jagannath Shetty welcomed the gathering. H L Rao, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharastra unit, delivered the introductory address. Dr Karunakar Shetty, secretary introduced the guests. D Kotian compered the programme. Omdas Kannangar proposed vote of thanks.
