Udupi, Nov 14: District Koraga Committee, here appealed to the district commissioner to restart the direct payment system by ITDP for treatment availed by Koraga community at private hospitals. Since the last 6 months, they have been talking to the concerned departments and officer on the matter, but ITDP is not responding to their demands. The state and central government had announced many projects for the development of scheduled tribe. Out of these, many projects had been successfully implemented, but from this year ITDP has stopped all these projects including one of the very important schemes of direct payment by ITDP for treatment of Koraga community at private hospitals, which had saved many poor Koragas from death.

Members of district Koraga committee say that they are in the final stage of their 'do or die' fight. ITDP says the reason for stopping this scheme is because the funds are used for indigenous projects.

As per the decision taken at the district committee meeting held on October 27, district Koraga committee will hold an overnight satyagraha strike either in front of the district office or in front of the ITDP office from November 14 till their demands are fulfilled. They request the concerned officers of ITDP or district commissioner to get special aid from the state government and restart all schemes which had been implemented by the government.

Bogra Koraga, Putra Hebri, Ammanni Choradi, Susheela Nada and Shekhara Kundapura were present at the occasion.
