Mangalurean girls make Bharatanatyam debut in Bahrain

Bahrain, Nov 13: Taking forward the rich culture of India, eight young Bharatanatyam dancers, four of them hailing from Mangaluru, made their stage debut on Friday November 11. The debut performance, known as ‘Arangetram’ was held at the Jashanmal Auditorim, Indian School Bahrain (ISB).

The eight dancers were Ayushi Rajesh, Echelle Anna Sequeira, Hitha Sadashiva Shetty, Nandana Menon, Shravya Surendra Shetty, Shweta Umesh Sonarikar, Teesha Suvarna and Varsha Babu.

They have been trained by Natya Guru Hansul Gani.

The performance of the eight youngsters, full of grace and poise, was widely appreciated by the audience.

Industry, commerce and tourism ministry's gem and pearl testing laboratory director Abeer Al Alawi was the chief guest.

ISB chairman Prince S Natarajan, and principal V R Palaniswamy were the guests of honour.
