Beltngady: Priest of Jain Basadi dies in accident

Beltangady, Nov 13: Shashikant Indra (56), who was the priest of the Bettada Basadi at Aladangadi in the taluk, suffered grave injuries in a road accident. He breathed his last at a private hospital at Mangaluru, without responding to treatment. 

Indra was injured in an accident which occurred at Ajekar on Friday. Thereafter, he was admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru.

The deceased was a native of Padangadi in Beltangady taluk, and had undergone education and training at Moodbidri Jain Math. The holy pilgrimage of Jains known with the name,'Shikarji' was undertaken by him for over 50 times. He had led a large group of devotees during each of these pilgrimages. 

Shashikant Indra had been bestowed with the 'best priest' title by Charukeerti Bhattaraka Swamiji of Moodbidri Jain Math. Sharukeerti Swamiji has grieved the untimely death of a great soul.
