Bengaluru, Nov 12: The state high court (HC) gave the government three weeks to clarify its stand on the acquisition of Lord Mahabaleshwara temple at Gokarna, which is presently managed by Ramachandrapur Math.
A division bench comprising HC chief justice, S K Mukherjee, and Justice R B Budihal passed this order, when hearing a public interest litigation filed by Balachandra Vighneshwar Deexit and some others, questioning the move of the government in handing over administration of the said temple to Ramachandrapur Math in 2008.
During the previous hearing on September 23, the state advocate general had told the bench that the state's decision on the subject would be informed to the court on November 11. But the government advocate who appeared on Friday said that the advocate general was away at New Delhi and sought three weeks time to clarify the government's stand on this issue. Thereafter, the hearing was adjourned to December 5.
