Mangaluru, Nov 8: Yuva Denya Dali 2016 – the city's diocesan cultural competitions organized by YCS, were held at St Aloysius Campus on Sunday November 6 at 9.00 am. The slogan was '6th Date, 7 Competitions in 8 Hours'.
The day began with invoking God’s blessings, followed by a creative inauguration. Fr Rupesh Madtha diocesan director welcomed the crowd. The chief guests on the dais were Fr Pradeep Sequiera SJ, the acting rector, St Aloysius Institutions and M P Noronha, the secretary of Diocesan Pastoral Parishad as well as a renowned lawyer. In his speech, Fr Pradeep conveyed how YCS moulds the personality of a young student and M P Noronha expressed that Ycs is one of the leading pious associations of the church in the city.
Fr Rupesh Madtha, Lanvin Lobo, the diocesan team member, Lavita D'Souza, diocesan president and Jesvita Quadras, national president were also present on the dais. Lavita D'Souza presented the vote of thanks.
The competitions held during the day were Mad Ads, singing, dance, photography, flower arrangement, face painting and quiz. The competitions commenced at 10.00 am. Around 500 from 38 parishes actively participated in the event.
At 3.45 pm the concluding ceremony began with Fr Valerian D'Souza, parish priest of Milagres, the Lover Boy at 92.7 Big FM RJ Errol who was called as a special guest of love, the diocesan director Fr Rupesh, diocesan animator Arun Siddakatte, diocesan president Lavita and Jesvita Quadras, the national president. Fr Rupesh welcomed everyone. RJ Errol spoke to the students and made them understand the importance of having a positive attitude and to follow their dreams. Fr Valerian asked the students to actively partake in such movements and to reach great heights by being able leaders. Fr Valerian felicitated RJ Errol, as he had started his socially involved journey in YCS YSM as a unit president at Udyavar YCS unit. Jesvita Quadras thanked everyone for making the day a success. The winners in the various competitions were awarded prizes. The 5 champion units of the day were Permannur, Vamanjoor, Puttur, Kirem and Angelore. The day concluded at 4.30 pm with singing of the YCS/YSM Anthem.
