Kuwait: TJK observes socio-cultural event 'Bangaru Bathukamma'

Kuwait, Nov 7: The day's event at the Hilton Resort at Mangaf, comprised of Bathukamma. The main event at the Touristic Park at Abbasiya in the evening was organized by Telangana Jagruthi Kuwait (TJK) under the patronage of TJK president, Vinay Muthyala, vice president, Dr Hyma Reddy, general secretary, Pawan Reddy Kallem, treasurer, Vijayagiri Shivaji, joint secretary-media relations, Abhilasha Godishala, joint secretary - cultural, Vijaya Nirmala Yadav Nair, joint secretary - labor relations, M D Abdul Aziz, joint secretary - public relations, Kazim Ali Hashmi, joint secretary - youth relations, Rajesh Gulle, joint secretary - skill development, Gangadhar G K, chief advisor, Hari Prasad Chellamshetty, advisory committee, Narsing Rao Kashimsetty, advisory committee, Dr James Neruda and advisory committee, Madasu Omprakash.

The Bangaru Bathukammaat Kuwait celebrations were graced by Telangana Jagruthi founder, Kalvakuntla Kavitha (member of parliament, Nizamabad constituency and daughter of Telangana chief minister, Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao), Telangana Jagruthi general secretary, Naveen Achari, Telangana Jagruthi vice president, Varalakshmi, woman’s wing convener, Dr Prabhavathi along with poet Nandini Sidha Reddy.

Telangana’s prominent women’s group welcomed the guest of honor, Kalvakuntla Kavitha and her team at the Hilton Resort. Kalvakuntla Kavitha along with the women present, assembled beautiful flower stacks and arranged the flower pyramids with various unique seasonal flowers of medicinal value which were imported from Telangana region to Kuwait. She sang folk songs while arranging seven concentric layers of the different colored flowers in the shape of the temple Gopuram along with NRIs of Telanganaand Kuwaiti women’sgroup. While making bathukamma Ms.Abhilasha Suresh interviewedher, which was telecastedon regional television channel of Telangana and all Jagruthi organization websites. The preparation of Bathukamma ended with traditional Bathukamma dance.

The latter part of the event commenced at the Touristic Park Abbasiya auditorium, where thousands of Telanganites from across Kuwait were present. The gathering was warmly welcomed by hosts Vijaya Nirmala Yadav Nair and Abhilasha Suresh, as they set the mood for the special evening. The programme kick-started with the welcome of guests for the evening namely Telangana Jagruthi Organization founder cum chief guest - Kalvakuntla Kavithagaru, deputy chief of mission at Indian Embassy in Kuwiat - Subhashish Goldar, Telangana Jagruthi Kuwait president - Vinay Muthyala, Bahrain chapter Jagruthi president – Hariprasd Chellamsetty, Telangana Jagruthi general secretary - Naveen Achari, Telangana Jagruthi vice president - Varalakshmi, womens wing convenor - Prabhavathi, poet - Nandini Sidha Reddy and Telangana / Kuwait’s prominent businessman - M Asad Khan (ambassador of Humanity First Foundation). The ceremonial lighting of the lamp 'Bhadra Deepam' was followed by an impressive performance of Shivathandav dance by Vishnu Priya and Telangana’s well-known Perine dance by Suraj Nukala.

The welcome speech was given by Vijaya Nirmala Yadav Nair and Dr Hyma Reddy briefed the gathering with the introduction of Bathukamma and its usage in our daily lives. It was followed by a video visuals of the movie ‘Life Again' - an inspirational story based on the life of Dr Hyma Reddy, a cancer survivor and yoga instructor at the Kuwait Cancer Center.

A large number of women and children gathered in the auditorium, who were invited by Kavithakka (name popularly known among masses of Telangana) to dance along with her on the stage. Everyone participated with joy and bliss in colorful traditional sarees and cheerful smiles and surrounded the flower pyramids clapping and singing the traditional songs of Telangana. Subsequent to this, Swapna Pawan, Swapna Reddy Kallem, Mrunalini Varla, Aileni Swapna, Vijaya Nirmala Yadav Nair, Lily Suresh, Sravanti CH, Susheela Siriventi Sharma, Sandhya Rani T, Dr Jyothi Mittaplalli, Shamily Cholleti, Swamy Rajini, Bhanusudha Kondal Reddy, Anumandla, Galipelli Vanitha, Anita Garlapti, Ani Reddy Shailaja, Kalpana Kanakarla, Radha Oraganti were presented with mementos by Kavithakka. Celebrity artiste of V6 news channel Teen Maar fame
Matakari Mangli also entertained the crowd.

Telangana Jagruthi Kuwait souvenir was released by the chief guests followed by Kavithakka who addressed the gathering. In her message she spoke about the importance
of Bathukamma and its upliftment for keeping the local traditions and cultures alive. TJK president Vinay Muthyala, also thanked the distinguished guests, event
sponsors, TJK team and all the attendees for their enthusiasm and support for the event.

Key supporters of the event Dr Hind Al Bahar, M Asad Khan, Hoshdar Khan, K Ramesh Reddy, Hyder Ali, S Ramadoss, Mohan Babu, Shukur, Rajaiah, Rafiq and G Amarnath Reddy were thanked by Telangana Jagruthi Kuwait.

Prizes were also distributed to TJK Cricket Cup winning team - Sri Bala Yuvasena Team and TJK Volleyball Cup winning team - Konasamudram team.

Pavan Reddy Kallem delivered the vote of thanks and the event concluded with the Indian National Anthem. At the end of the event, delicious traditional Telangana food was served to the gathering.
