Udupi: Sorake inaugurates renovated cemetery at Moodubelle

Udupi, Nov 5: The newly renovated cemetery at St Lawrence Church, Moodubelle was inaugurated by Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister and MLA of Kaup on Wednesday November 2.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop, Diocese of Udupi blessed the renovated cemetery. In the formal function Vinay Kumar Sorake, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Fr Valerian Dsouza, Fr Denis D’sa, PRO, Diocese of Udupi, Wilfred Rodrigues, Jilla Panchayat member, Udupi, Elias D’Souza, Engineer, Fr Alphonse D’Lima, rector, minor seminary, Moodubelle, and Fr Clement Mascarenhas were present on the dais.

Sponsors of the cemetery, Cashmir Menezes and Wilfred Menezes were felicitated along with others on the occasion. Architect of the renovated cemetery Elias D’Souza was also honored.

Alfonse Alva, vice president, parish pastoral council, welcomed the guest and Latha D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks. Meera Lobo compered the program.

Holy Eucharistic mass was conducted at the newly built dome. The holy mass was celebrated by Dr Gerald Lobo along with Fr Clement Mascarenhas, Fr Reginald Pinto and Fr Johnson D’Mello.

Fr Clement thanked each and every one and especially the donors for their kind donations to build this beautiful cemetery.

After the holy mass, bishop blessed the graves of the departed. Parishioners had gathered around the graves of their loved ones and had decorated their graves with flowers and candles.
