Udupi: Sorake lays foundation stone for Hiriyadka temple

Udupi, Nov 2: The foundation laying ceremony of Shri Mahathobhara Veera Bhadreswami temple, Hiriyadka was held at Hiriyadka on Wednesday November 2. The rituals of ‘Raja Gopura’ and ‘Nagari Gopura’ started early morning at 4.30 led by temple priest Shadanga Laxminarayana .

Former district in-charge minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake later laid the foundation stone for the temple.

Chartered accountant and president of Jeernoddara Committee Mumbai presided over the stage function at 9am. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest, Dr G Shankar, promoter of Dr G Shankar family trust, said, “I have a great devotion for Hiriyadka temple only after Kulamasthi temple of Bennekudru. We need to resolve the differences inside the community. As bunts, we need to guide backward communities and help them in their development. Like Mogaveeras and Billavasa, we need to be leaders in helping others.” 

Jagannatha Shetty expressed his happiness for being part of the programme. 

Balaji, son-in-law of Jagannatha Shetty said, “Jeernoddara temple will help in the development of villages around here. There is special providence in worshipping Daiva and Devaru in Tulu Nadu.”

Chief secretary of Jeernoddara committee welcomed the guests. Kudi Vasantha Shetty delivered key note address. 

National awardee teacher Malpe Raghavendra, Dr Devadas Kamath, Kamath nursing home Hiriyadka, H Dharmaprakash Rao Hiriyadka and devotees were present for the programme.
