Panaji: Goa Tourism to launch pedibus tours from Monday

Panaji, Oct 30 (IANS): In a unique move to promote eco-friendly sightseeing in the coastal state, Goa Tourism will launch the pedibus -- pedal-powered group cycling tours -- on Monday.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will launch the 10-seater pedal-powered vehicles on October 31, the state Tourism Ministry said in a statement.

Pedibuses are already popular in Europe and these will serve as a perfect opportunity for "domestic tourists to seek more adventure and experiential activities while on vacation", the statement said.

"There are several different tours throughout the day, from different locations, beginning with Candolim and Baga on pedibuses that can be booked online, on the phone or through one's hotel," the statement said.

"With a seating configuration similar to that of a dinner table, the cycle party is the most fun and sociable way to cycle, chat and hang out with friends. Since the vehicle is open on all sides, onlookers will also enjoy seeing the passing vehicle and hearing the lively music," the statement added.
