Mangaluru, Oct 27: In earlier times,interactions at home included stories told by grandparents. Vishwa Konkani Kendra in an attempt to revive this traditional art of storytelling among children will hold a competition on narrating 'grandmother stories'.
Two separate groups will be formed for the purpose. Students of the fourth and fifth standard will belong to one group and those in the sixth and seventh standard will belong to another. The story telling competitions will be held at Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Shakthinagar on Sunday, November 13 at 9.30 AM.
For the competition, participants will be expected to submit a written letter by their headmaster or headmistress to the Vishwa Konkani Kendra before October 30.
Students will be required to carry a written copy of their story to the venue of the competition.
Prizes have been announced to winners of the competition as follows -
Group 1, comprising fourth and fifth standard students will be awarded Rs 2,000, Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 for the first, second and third place respectively.
Group 2, comprising sixth and seventh standard students will be presented with Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 for the first, second and third place winners respectively.
All participants will be issued certificates and a coloured book, stated a news release from Vishwa Konkani Kendra.
