Puttur: The inaugural function of Planning Forum of PG Department of Economics, St Philomena College Puttur, took place on Monday, October 24, at the seminar hall of the Post Graduation Centre.
The inaugurator Dr B Jayarama Bhat, Professor of Economics, Kuvempu University, delivered a lecture on ‘Indian Economy–Emerging Issues and Pattern of Development’.
He said, "The Indian economy is a growing economy that has witnessed many hurdles in its path of development. It has achieved a considerable amount of development over the years, yet, it is necessary to undertake some specific reform actions." He suggested panchasutras like effective governance, least political interference, increased public participation, efficient management of affairs, commitment to the developmental cause and proper implementation of plans, to make the Indian economy a stronger one by the year 2020.
The principal of SPC, Prof Leo Noronha, in his presidential address said, "Today, the world is going in for the fourth industrial revolution with the field of telecommunications. The RIL chairman, Mukesh Ambani, dedicated the much awaited Reliance Jio 4G services to the nation and called it an effort to fulfil the 'digital India' dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
The programme was well organised by the students. Ishwarya and team presented a prayer song. Rakesh Naik welcomed the gathering. Lavita Jovina Lobo introduced the chief guest. Shwetha M hosted the programme, and Chaithra proposed the vote of thanks.
The coordinator of the Department of Economics Prof Dinakara Rao and the president of the Planning Forum Pavithra G were present at the occasion. Convenor of the Planning Forum Pradeep K S introduced the new office bearers of Planning Forum.
