Bengaluru, Oct 26: A one-day national conference on 'Start Up India - Trends, Opportunities and Challenges', was organised by St Claret Degree College, on Wednesday, October 26.
The programme began ceremoniously with an invocation and the lighting of the lamp. Fr Dr Sabu George, Principal St Claret College, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest, Dr Aloysius P Fernandez.
In his keynote address, Dr Fernandez spoke on the importance of start-ups and the value of entrepreneurship in developing the economy of the nation. He addressed the untapped potential of entrepreneurship in the informal sector and of ways to create a conducive environment for providing employment.
The conference started on a great note, with technical sessions and panel discussions by eminent academicians and distinguished members from the industry. Dr R S Ponmagal, professor and HoD of Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute, was the resource person for the technical session.
The panellists for the panel discussion were B Vedhagiri, the director of IIFT, H R Jayaram, founder and promoter of Green Path Foundation, Y Tripuramba, secretary of ALEAP, Hyderabad, and Dr Jayalakshmi, asst professor of CMR Law School.
It was followed by paper presentations by the participants in parallel sessions on various themes, such as information technology, HR and marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance and governance.
The national conference concluded successfully with an exchange of views by the attendees. Fr Vineeth George, Vice-Principal SCC, proposed the vote of thanks.
