Bantwal, Oct 22: A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was filed in Vittal police station in the taluk. A minor boy and a minor girl had together deserted their families and gone away some time back. On their return, the family of the girl found out that she had conceived during her absence from the village.

A 14-year-old girl living within the jurisdiction of Vittal police station had eloped with a 16-year-old boy residing in a place which falls under Puttur police station limits. Both the families are distant relatives and did not want to vitiate the cordial relationship. So none of them filed missing report then.

After the girl returned, mother of the girl developed some doubts. She got the girl checked at the hospital where the doctors confirmed that she was pregnant. After the hospital conveyed this information to the police, policemen registered this case.

What a disgrace ? And are the parents better ? though they are related missing complaint should have been filed. Now the girl is pregnant and how can the boy only be responsible ? As both are at fault justice should be provided in the best way. Sad both are still minors and that can be married along and be united.
