Sullia, Oct 20: Persons who robbed gold ornaments worth eight lac rupees from a house in Kantamangala here have been nabbed by Davanagere police. In this case, some robbers had entered the house of the owner of Bharat Agro here, Ramachandra P, tied up the family members, and robbed them.
Local police officers brought the accused to Kantamangala for spot inspection and for complying with other legal formalities. The accused have been identified as Rangappa from Hosadurga taluk in Chitradurga district, Kumar alias Tilak Kumar from Mavinakatte in Channagiri taluk, Davanagere district, M R Sachin from Jayanagara Davanagere, H Krishnappa from Mouneshwara extension, Davanagere, and Sharanappa from Hiriyur, Chitradurga.
All the above accused have been brought to the town in connection with the said investigation. The accused, who were arrested concerning a murder case at Davanagere, confessed to the robbery during interrogation, it is learnt.
After securing body warrant for the accused, the same was produced in Davanagere court by the local police after which, and the accused were brought here. The policemen said that two more accused in this robbery case, Chandra and Sheena, are yet to be arrested.
During the police visit, head of the family, Ramachandra P, and his wife were not present at home. The domestic servant, however, was available, and she identified the culprits. The policemen have secured police custody of the accused and investigation is progressing.
