B'luru: VTU revaluation scandal - government to suspend 30 more professors

Bengaluru, Oct 20: In connection with rampant defects found in a revaluation of answer sheets in Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, the government has decided to suspend  30 more professors.

Three teaching staff from Oxford College Bengaluru, and one each from Islamia Institute of Technology, Bhalki Bheemanna Khandre Institute of Technology, Eastwest Institute of Technology, government engineering college Kushalnagar, KLE engineering college Belavari, Karavali Institute of Technology Mangaluru and    KGN Institute of Technology Kalaburagi have already been suspended relating to this scandal.  

List of the 30 professors being suspended would be released soon, the government said.

There are 210 colleges under VTU in which about four lac students are studying. Normally, about ten percent requests of answer sheet revaluation are received by the university. But this time, requests for revaluation  reached the figure of over two lac. A large number of people who had failed in the first valuation had passed in the revaluation process. VTU officials said that they observed a lot of differences in the marks obtained in the first valuation and revaluation.
