Compensate Goans for disruption during Brics: Chodankar


Margao, Oct 19 (TOI): All India Congress committee (AICC) secretary Girish Chodankar has demanded that the BJP government should compensate all those who have suffered losses during the Brics summit in Goa.

Chodankar said the BJP government should appreciate that Goans who had tolerated all sorts of inconveniences caused to them during the summit. But compensation should be paid to raponkars, fishing trawlers, kiosk owners, bar & restaurants, water sports, shops, bus transporters etc who had to shut down their business due to the event.

Chodankar, a former youth Congress presdient, also said that Goa has lost an opportunity to highlight Goa's magnificence at the global level due to selfish interests of the BJP leaders.

"We have lost a great opportunity to popularize Goa, but we lost it due to BJP's greed for its symbol," Chodankar said adding "this has exposed desperation and nervousness of BJP to regain power against the wishes of Goans".

He has also demanded a white paper on the financial aspects of Brics including the central funds received and expenditure incurred by the Goa government.
