Barcelona, Oct 18 (IANS): Manchester City midfielder Manuel Agudo Nolito has admitted that FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has played a fundamental role in his football career.
In an interview published on Monday by The Guardian, Nolito admitted that he owes much to his current coach Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique. The two teams will be facing off at the Camp Nou stadium here on Wednesday in the third round of the Champions League group stage.
According to the striker, it was Enrique who got the best out of him as a player when he trained him in Barcelona B.
The player spoke of 2013, when he joined Celta Vigo, recalling that "Luis Enrique appeared at a moment in my career where it was either take a step forward or a step back".
"I was at Barcelona B with him, then Celta. He bet very, very heavily on me and supported me. He made me see football differently, convincing me I could really make it," he said.
Also, Nolito remembers how the coach made him lose 10 kilograms, something that was necessary for the development of his career.
