Puttur: MLA, AC, pay surprise visit to govt hospital, consider grievances

Puttur, Oct 18: The government hospital in the town happens to be the second biggest government hospital in the district. It has been reeling under various problems.

On Monday October 18, local MLA, Shakuntala Shetty, and assistant commissioner, Dr Rajendra K V, came to the hospital without prior notice.

Since the past several months, the number of patients visiting this hopsital has been rising steadily. Because of shortage of doctors and medicines, people who entirely depended on this hospital were facing problems. Alerted to these prblems, the MLA and assistant commissioner visited the hospital and collected integrated information about the problems faced.

Medical officer of the hospital, Dr Pradeep, and other staff members were present. Pradeep said that district health officer has promised to clear the proposals that have already been sent for construction of temporary restroom for hospital staff at a cost of ten lac rupees, additional water supply system, specialist doctors, obstretician, and gynecolonist.

He also pointed out that the hospital does not have an ambulance equipped with ventilator for shifting patients elsewhere during emergencies. Moreover, the hospital also faces death of ventilators, he pointed out. Dr Rajendra asked him to put up a proposal for the same.
