Muscat, Oct 15: It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver - Mahatma Gandhi.
On the morning of October 7, Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP), here and Humanity First Foundation (HFF), the city's chapter joined hands to work for better health of the parishioners from various communities in the Sultanate of Oman. A free medical camp was held at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ruwi at the upper parish hall. It was conducted in collaboration with City Optical and Apollo Hospitals, here.
The event commenced with a welcome note by the MCCP president, Dilip Correa, who also welcomed the dignitaries to the stage. Savio Carvalho, vice president of the parish council of Ruwi parish welcomed the assistant parish priest, Fr Marian Miranda and Dr Vidya from Apollo hospital with floral bouquets. Sharon Alva, national general secretary of HFF welcomed Suresh Kumar, head - marketing of Apollo Hospitals, Muscat and James Noronha, proprietor of City Optical with floral bouquets.
Fr Marian Miranda led the gathering in prayer. A token of appreciation was handed over to Suresh Kumar and James Noronha as a gratitude for their willingness and co-operation to conduct this free medical camp. The inaugural was compered by Lavina D’Sa. Sharon Alva proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr Vidya presented a talk on breast cancer awareness to the ladies who were present.
The camp which commenced at 9 am concluded at 6 pm. Over 225 people gained benefit through this health camp. Doctor’s consultation, screening of basic health parameters and eye checkups were provided free of cost, as a package of this medical camp.
The collaboration of MCCP and HFF has proved to be beneficial to the community of the parish.
