Panaji, Dec 22: Renowned Indian scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar has said that the global shift from techno-nationalism to techno-globalism has brought together nations on a common platform.
Scientists from across the country have gathered in Goa to participate in the 73rd annual general meeting of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), which will discuss various challenges before the nation including climatic changes.
"It's not just in the field of energy but the whole spectrum including health, water and others has brought nations together. Everyone has come together as a community," Mashelkar, who heads a year-old Global Research Alliance (GRA), stated.
Mashelkar, who also heads INSA, a body of India's renowned scientists, said that scientific community is now talking of 'global good'.
Talking to the media at the backdrop of the conference, Mashelkar further said that GRA has 60,000 scientists from nine countries actively working together on different projects.
Citing an instance of global partnership, Mashelkar said that the projects like International Thermo Nuclear Experimental Reactor has countries like US, India, Japan, China, South Korea besides European countries participating in it.
"The project is worth $12 billion and it works on fusion energy," Mashelkar said.
The Indian legendary scientist spoke in favour of nuclear deal which according to him is one amongst the option to produce energy without emitting much carbon dioxide.
"We have an excellent deal," Mashelkar said refusing to touch the political aspect of the controversy.
