Indian men defeat Netherlands in Chess Olympiad

Chennai, Sep 9 (IANS): The Indian men's maintained their winning run on Thursday defeating Netherlands 2.5-1.5 points continued to be at the top at the World Chess Olympiad held at Baku in Azerbaijan.


On the top board Indian Grandmaster (GM) and World No.15 drew with World No.12 Anish Giri in a 49 move battle.

While GM B. Adhiban won against his opponent the other team members GMs Vidit Santosh Gujrathi and S.P. Sethuraman split points against their rivals.

The Indian eves too won their outing against Lativa 2.5-1.5 points.

Indian GM and World No.5 Harika Dronavalli and WGM Soumya Swaminathan won their games against their Lativian rivals, International Master (IM) Padmini Rout drew her game while IM Tania Sachdev lost hers.
