Madrid, Sep 4 (IANS): FC Barcelona's Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto said that the philosophy of his national football team is similar with his club, indicating that Spain new coach Julen Lopetegui adopts the same philosophy of his predecessor Vicente del Bosque.
Roberto on Saturday explained that both Barcelona and Spain apply the philosophy of ball possession and game control, reports Efe.
The Spanish midfielder pointed out that Lopetegui always depends on this philosophy to possess and pressurise after loss, noting that the national team is working on this style tactically with methods very similar to those of Barcelona.
Roberto, who previously was coached by Lopetegui at Spain youth team, added that Spain coach applies the same philosophy, which should remain in that way.
Roberto hailed teammate Thiago Alcantara after he was called up by Spain following his absence for a knee injury.
Roberto recalled good experiences with Thiago at Barcelona B squad, saying that he was "lucky" to play with him at the Catalan club for several years.
Roberto added that he was now lucky to share moments with Thiago on the field, where he is enjoying it a lot after overcoming his injury and restoring his level.
