Panaji, Dec 10: The Nationalist Congress party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar on Monday appointed Lyndon S C Monteiro president of NCP's Goa unit president.
The order to this effect was released today from Delhi by the president who has asked the newly-elected president to constitute the new state committee and district committees.
Monteiro, a young entrepreneur, has been actively working for the party in the state since its inception. The order, which was faxed to the state capital today, has expressed the hope that the new appointment will attract large number of youth to the party.
The newly-elected president has been working as a personal assistant to tourism minister Fransisco Pacheco and has been instrumental in bringing in various developmental projects for the state.
He was also elected vice chairman of Goa Tourism Development Corporation's newly elected board.
Monteiro said that his prime target was to rejuvenate the youth wing. "There has been large acceptance to the party amongst youths and we will provide them platform to get together," he said.
"Although NCP is a part of state government, we will continue fighting against the injustice, if at all, meted out by the state government,'" he said.
Monteiro said that his organization will also act as a bridge between the state and union government and will try to bring in various schemes useful to the youths in the state.
