Chandigarh, Sep 2 (IANS): Public transport across Haryana was affected on Friday after the State Roadways employees went on a day-long strike in support of central trade unions to protest violation of labour laws and economic policies.
The strike left tens of thousands of passengers in a lurch. However, the water and electricity supply was not affected across the state.
The strike, called by various State Roadways employees associations, largely hit Rohtak, Fatehabad, Ambala, Faridabad and Yamunanagar districts, reports said.
Its impact was seen less in Karnal and Rewari districts as a majority of State Roadways buses were plying normally.
Three out of the eight unions of the Haryana Roadways employees were participating in the strike, association leaders said.
At most of the places, the employees began the strike early morning on Friday but the major effect was felt when people, especially office-goers, kept waiting for buses.
Private buses as well as auto-rickshaws have also joined the strike at most of the places.
