Guwahati, Sep 1 (IANS): Indian Super League (ISL) franchise NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) on Thursday announced the signing of Uruguayan striker Emiliano Alfaro and Brazilian attacking midfielder Fabio Neves Florentino for the upcoming edition of the football tournament.
Alfaro had represented Uruguay at the Under-17, U-20 and senior national team. He has had resounding success at the club level having played in leagues in Uruguay, Argentina, Italy and the UAE.
Brazilian Fabio Neves is an attacking midfielder, who has played in leading clubs in Brazil and South Korea.
Speaking on the appointment, Ardeshir Jeejeebhoy, director of football for NEUFC said: "The new players join us at an opportune time, since we are making the final additions to the squad. Their commitment and professional approach to the game will surely instil strong belief and confidence in our squad this season."
Sharing his thoughts on the new recruits, the club's owner John Abraham said: "We are delighted to welcome the players to NEUFC. Both Emiliano Alfaro and Fabio Neves, are experienced players who have played the game at the highest level and we look forward to them playing key roles this season."
