Rio de Janeiro, Aug 25 (IANS): Former Brazil international midfielder Marcelinho Paraiba has joined local third-tier football side Ypiranga at the not-so-tender age of 41.
Marcelinho signed with the Rio Grande do Sul-based side on Wednesday after being released by Brazilian Serie D club Inter de Lages, reports Xinhua.
"Hello fans, I'm Marcelinho Paraiba and I'm coming to Ypiranga to help the club get promoted to Serie B," Marcelinho said in a statement on Ypiranga's Facebook page.
It will be the playmaker's 22nd club in a career that has spanned 25 years.
He is best remembered for his five-year spell at Bundesliga club Bertha, where he played 155 matches and scored 65 goals.
Marcelinho was capped five times for Brazil's national team, scoring one goal.
