Panaji, Aug 23 (TOI): Chairman of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee minority cell Urfan Mulla on Monday said that at least one Muslim candidate should receive a ticket to contest in each district in the 2017 state assembly polls.
"There should be at least one Muslim candidate in North Goa and one for South Goa," Mulla said at a press conference to reveal the alleged scams in the Goa Housing Board.
Mulla alleged that during the tenure of Elvis Gomes as the director of the Goa Housing Boarda, a decision to allot low income housing residential units to an Urdu and Marathi school was taken without the board's approval.
"Politicians are behind government bureaucrats, this is my open allegation," Mulla said, adding that earlier 3,520 sq m open plot at Gogol Housing Board had been illegally sold to a private builder. The government had now issued a notice to residents of the allegedly illegal building, Mulla said.
Mulla added that the Goa Congress would file a complaint with the Lokayukta after seeking legal advice.
