Huawei P9 with dual-lens camera launched in India at Rs 39,999

New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS): Chinese information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider Huawei on Wednesday unveiled its new, dual-lens flagship smartphone P9 in India at Rs 39,999.

The Huawei P9 is the first smartphone co-engineered with the Germany-based Leica Camera AG.

"We feel photography is a critical element in user experience and Huawei P9 users can now capture images with unmatched clarity, richness and authenticity," Peter Zhai, President, Huawei India Consumer Business Group, told reporters here.

The P9's dual-lens camera takes smartphone photography to the next level, allowing people to capture both vivid colours and black and white images, the company said in a statement.

The device has 5.2-inch full-HD display, Kirin 955 2.5GHz 64-bit ARM-based processor, 3,000mAh battery and comes with two 12MP cameras on the rear and a 8MP front camera.

The device has 3GB RAM and comes with 32GB of internal storage.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system comes pre-installed on the Huawei P9, and Huawei's EMUI 4.1 is placed on top of it.

Earlier this week, the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has named Huawei P9 the "European Consumer smartphone 2016-17" under its Mobile Device awards.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Huawei's devices were recognised by EISA in this category.
