Rio de Janeiro, Aug 14 (IANS): Argentina came away with a 111-107 win over Brazil after the second overtime at the ongoing Rio Olympics here.
Andres Nocioni led the Argentines with 37 points. Facundo Campazzo finished with 33 points and 11 assists. Nene had a team-high 24 points and 11 rebounds for Brazil here on Saturday, reports Xinhua.
"This is great. This is an eternal rivalry for us. What we did today was big," said Nocioni.
Argentina was 28-19 ahead in the first quarter before Brazil responded with a 33-point explosion in the second to go 52-44 up at the break. Two fouls shots by Huertas extended the Brazilians' lead to 85-82 with 20 seconds left. Nocioni buried a triple to tie the game at 85 with three seconds remaining.
The game were tied at 95 with 38 seconds left before both teams scored empty in the remaining seconds to step into the second overtime. Campazzo got hot hand, hitting two three-pointers to seal victory for Argentina.
