Panaji, Nov 30: Two-time world under-8 chess champion, Ivana Maria Furtado will arrive in Margao on Sunday at around 7 am. She has left New Delhi by Goa Express along with her parents, Jennifer and Eli.
A grand reception is being planned for the double world champ at Margao railway station by Goa State Chess Association and its president Sameer Salgaocar has appealed to sports-lovers and especially chess-lovers to come out in large numbers to greet the world champion.
It may be recalled that at the World Youth Championship in Turkey, Ivana was the only Indian to win a gold medal, retaining the title she won last year. She re-claimed the prestigious crown from amongst a strong field packed with Russians and Chinese in full force.
