Doha, Aug 13: "We are known to be people of unity and tolerance. Yet in recent years, there have been numerous incidents which have not only tested our unity but have also succeeded in dividing us on lines of religion and culture to an extent. Though at individual level we all strive and maintain unity with our neighbours and society, we do not do the same together as a society. There is distrust amongst us due to frivolous and trivial reasons. Instead of spreading love and trust, we are spreading hatred. It is high time that we come together keeping aside our differences and foster religious harmony so that we can weed out hatred from our society. It is the need of the hour. Let’s not fall prey to the guile and misdeeds of a few individuals and party. It is our society and our nation and we all have equal responsibility to preserve our unity and spread love,” said Moulana NKM Shafi Sa-Adi, member of Karnataka Wakf Board.
He was speaking at a breakfast event organized by Karnataka Muslims Cultural Association (KMCA) here on Friday August 12. Moulana NKS Shafi Sa-Adi is in Qatar to attend an event organized by Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) along with U T Khader, minister for Food and Civil Supplies, government of Karnataka.
Speaking on the occasion U T Khader briefed the audience about various programmes and initiatives that are being undertaken by his department to ease the problems faced by people in securing ration card. Like passports, henceforth ration cards too will be dispatched to the beneficiaries through speed post. The department of Food and Civil Supplies has also simplified the process of applying for ration cards. All that a beneficiary is required to do is to furnish his/her Aadhaar number while applying online, and the card will reach the applicant’s doorstep within a few days. Once the Aadhaar number is furnished online, then officials will visit the applicant’s residence for verification. Following this, the applicant’s details will be downloaded and printed. He also informed the gathering that a new website will be launched by the department through which people living abroad can apply for ration cards and then follow up their applications. “I understand that when you people come on vacation, most of the times, it is not possible for you to complete the formalities of getting ration card. You have short vacations and hence it is impossible to stay back and follow up. Hence we are planning to launch a new website, wherein you can log on staying abroad and after submitting necessary information and documents, you can apply for ration card. Your application then will be examined and verification will be done at your home turf before issuing the card,” he added.
Office-bearers and committee members of various Karnataka-based associations in Qatar were present on the occasion.
On behalf of Karnataka Bases association K Madhu addressed the gathering and appealed to all fellow members of the association to work together for the betterment of society. He also congratulated U T Khader, minister for Food and Civil Supplies, government of Karnataka.
KMCA president Niyaz Ahmed welcomed the gathering while vice-president Abdulla Monu proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ahmed Saeed Assadi.
