Man City sign Colombian forward Moreno for five years

Manchester, Aug 7 (IANS): Manchester City on Saturday confirmed the signing of Colombian forward Marlos Moreno from Atletico Nacional for the next five football seasons, however, the 19-year-old will be on loan to La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Following the signing, Txiki Begiristain, football director of the English club, said that Moreno is "a versatile player" and has "a fantastic future in the game and with City", Efe news agency reported.

During his season at Nacional, Moreno won the titles of the Colombian soccer league last season and the Copa Libertadores late July.

The 19-year-old appeared in four matches with his national team in the last edition of Copa America, in which he scored a goal, in addition to two goals in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.

Moreno becomes City's seventh signing of the summer, joining Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Aaron Mooy at the club.

"Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. I think he likes young players very much and he can improve young players tactically and technically. It will be great to work with him and to be part of a great team," Moreno said.

British media reported the transfer fee for the player to be $6.20 million.
