Porvorim, Aug 5 (TOI): Opposition members on Thursday slapped a notice of 'no-confidence motion' against the speaker of Goa legislative assembly Anant Shet alleging that he has been behaving in a 'partisan and biased' manner.
Speaking to reporters, Opposition leader Pratapsingh Rane said the speaker has not been able to conduct the proceedings of the House properly. "The opposition members are not getting proper replies to their answers," Rane said, informing about the notice of no confidence motion slapped against the speaker.
Last eight days have seen clashes between the ruling and opposition members with the latter alleging that their pointed question were rarely listed for discussion. At times, the speaker curtails their right to raise subsidiary question, the opposition alleged.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai accused the speaker of following the dictates of the former speaker. "Ruling party members are dictating how the House should be conducted," alleged Sardesai adding they have no right to direct "how we should behave". Next, Sardesai said, they will dictate what we should wear.
