Mumbai, Nov 28 (mb): Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray on Monday made it clear that his target would be north Indians.

Reminiscent of his estranged uncle Bal Thackeray’s hostile campaigns in the ‘60s against south Indians, the new age Thackeray has taken up the cause of unemployed Marathi youth and finds north Indians are encroaching on this constituency.

He warned that the north Indians will soon rule Maharashtra if it continues to remain unwary about the “designs of north Indians”.

He was speaking at a function at Shivaji Mandir in Dadar where a book by veteran journalist Neelkanth Khadilkar was published on Monday evening. ‘Ramayan’ is the fourth pocket book by Khadilkar in last year.

Thackeray claimed that though his party’s activities were very low profile, he is preparing for a big battle. He said, “Today it has become necessary to work for the unemployed Marathi youth.”

He came down heavily on the people of Maharashtra for their “ignorant behaviour towards encroachments by north Indians”.

He said, “Maharashtra has the highest number of north Indians outside of Uttar Pradesh. Though it is an alarming signal for us, we are not paying much attention towards it. If this continues, the North Indians will rule Maharashtra.”

Expressing regrets about the youths’ attitude towards politics and politicians, Thackeray challenged them to reignite their minds.

Raj Thackeray’s most famous work till date has been the attack on unemployed youth - who had just arrived in Mumbai to appear for railway examinations - from north India at Kalyan station a few years back by workers of Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena, then headed by him.
