DMRC, MDI to exchange intellectual, infrastructure resources

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday signed an agreement with the Management Development Institute (MDI) to exchange intellectual and infrastructure resources as well as setting the ground for long-term academy-industry partnership.

Both the organisations will jointly develop research and innovation programmes, a DMRC statement said.

According to the agreement, the modules for these programmes will be designed by the faculty members of the MDI and DMRC officials.

To give the students practical exposure of customer, operations and project management, the DMRC has also offered to arrange trips at its stations, construction sites, depots and training institutes.

"MDI has agreed to arrange involvement of DMRC officials in their workshops including meetings with business leaders, innovators and the students," the statement said.

The organisations will assist each other in providing solutions and practical experience of their best practices.

The DMRC and MDI will explore opportunities in the international markets and jointly bid for assignments in capacity building, institution development, training and development programmes.

They will also establish a joint advisory board consisting of two senior-level officials from both the organisations to undertake periodic review of the progress of various activities and monitor the qualitative aspects of various programmes.

The DMRC earlier tied up with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Delhi and Delhi Technological University (DTU) to explore the aspects of planning, management, operations and construction of the metro rail network.
