Tokyo, Jul 29 (IANS): Tokyo shares opened higher on Friday amid rising expectations of further steps for monetary easing from the Bank of Japan ahead of the outcome of its two-day policy meeting ending Friday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 15.12 points, or 0.09 per cent, from Thursday to 16,491.96, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.47 points, or 0.11 per cent, to 1,308. 47.
Gainers were led by security, real estate and financial stock issues.
